The forest giants in Bernheim Arboretum are constructed completely of wood recycled from local resources – from the forest itself, to wooden pallets, to discards from the Louisville Slugger plant nearby. Charming and whimsical, the trolls make a giant statement about the importance of using our resources and preserving our natural areas.

Internationally renowned Danish artist Thomas Dambo will be at Bernheim from Feb 20 – March 18 creating giant larger than life sculptures made from recycled materials. An altar created by artist Thomas Dambo at Bernheim Forest for the pregnant giant troll, Mamma Loumari includes a unicorn’s horn and a dragon’s head. The items are from Scandinavian folklore involving trolls. March 15, 2019.
